The U.S. Open vs. the House Pattern

houseshot

With all the excitement around the U.S. Open, we thought it was a good time to share this video created by the talented Jason Doust. Enjoy his thorough comparison of a US Open pattern to a House pattern.

TBA accredited coach, Jason Doust, owns and operates Bowlers Edge, a precision pro shop in Canberra, Australia’s National Capital.

At 16, Jason purchased an adult card. At 17, he won his first open tournament. At 21, he won Sydney’s best singles league averaging 223 for 96 games, setting a national record.

In 1991, Jason won Australia’s largest and most prestigious event, the South Pacific Classic, on national television. He represented Australia at the Bowling World Cup in Beijing that year. In 1992, he played on the PBA Tour.

Jason’s reputation for his ability to explain technical concepts in everyday language has him in demand. He is a self-confessed “bowling geek”.

Jason loves his wife Adele, their two Airedales, Australian native animals & cycling.

    Good stuff!

Having lower speed (12-15mph) and being somewhat rev-dominant, I tend to struggle on house patterns. I’ve actually been doing better lately on Kegel sport patterns. So far I’ve done my best on Dead Man’s Curve, but with only one other player shooting just outside my line. I’m always backwards!

In my 40+ years in the bowling industry, this is probably the best explanations and demonstrations of lane conditioning patterns that I have seen or heard.
This video should be required viewing in every bowling center for every person that bowls!
    Great job Jason! Kudos!
